SPIKED ISLAND

Spiked Island formed when a chance meeting between vocalist Matt Dean and guitarist/vocalist Matt Berry occurred in the fan bar at their football club, Oldham Athletic. Matt Dean was interviewing fans for his podcast and unbeknown to him, approached Matt to ask if he would be interviewed for the podcast, not realising it was the guitarist( having not seeing him since the mid 90’s) when Dean was singer in a college band that Matt Berry’s brother was in. The two reminisced and talk turned to music. Dean was eager to resume his music, and sharing a love of the same genres/bands, the two decided to put together what is Spiked Island - the ultimate tribute to the great late 80’s/90’s bands that dominated the music scene during that time. They also add songs from later Indie acts too. The pair gelled quickly and easily, Dean having sang in Ireland before his return to England and Berry a professional musician having played for many years in different and varied acts. Combining a professional sound and a look of the times in the way of dress representing both eras (Baggy To Britpop and Beyond), Spiked Island are the ultimate party night, re-living a great time in music.
